Dawson Oaks Trailer Park Checklist before you press Start

Mics, job assignments, role pairs, and the landmarks you should not scream across.

Lobby Checklist

A Dawson Oaks Trailer Park lobby fails in the first two minutes when nobody owns a job. This checklist is the script you read in Discord while Steam is still patching. It assumes the planned 17 September 2026 Windows launch, proximity voice, eleven suspect roles, a public Supervisor, and a hidden Snitch with a cover role. It does not assume you already memorized how to play. Assign a host to tick boxes out loud. Hardware belongs on system requirements; this page is people.

1. Voice check before roles

  • Everyone has a working mic and hears at least one other person at short range.
  • Confirm push-to-talk versus open mic. Open mic is funnier and more dangerous. Pick one rule for the night.
  • Walk out of earshot once so people feel range, even if that test happens in Discord.
  • Mute music that bleeds into the mic.
  • If one player cannot hear, they are a liability as Supervisor or Snitch. Fix it or sit them out.

Broken audio looks like hiding a crime even when you are only buffering.

2. Assign readers, not heroes

Do this in Discord before the queue, not after the Supervisor is already wandering.

  • One person reads the Supervisor page and is willing to take that role the first round. The Supervisor is public. Everyone will stare at them. They need the sheet more than the loudest friend does.
  • One person learns meeting rules cold: suspects can call a meeting, you vote the Snitch, a wrong vote leaves the real Snitch in play, a right vote swings power. They will run the first Community Center conversation so it is not twelve people talking over each other.
  • Everyone else opens Getting Started or the role roster for two minutes. They need to know their urge exists. Rotate Supervisor after round one.

3. Role-need pairs (say them out loud)

Eleven suspect roles share a park: Drug Dealer, Junkie, Moonshine Cook, Creep, Scrapper, Pyromaniac, Gambler, Thief, Drunk, Prankster, Hobo. Some of those roles only function if another player is alive and willing.

  • Junkie needs Dealer. If you are the Junkie, your first quiet goal is finding a Dealer without announcing it to the Supervisor. If you are the Dealer, a Junkie who cannot find you will get sloppy and get you both watched.
  • Moonshine Cook wants drinkers. Drunk wants a still. Do not treat those as optional flavor.
  • Thief, Scrapper, and Pyromaniac need cover stories that sound like chores. Agree that “I’m just on a task” is not a cover if you shout the task name.
  • The Snitch is not a public job. They wear a cover role. Do not ask “who is Snitch?” in proximity. Save it for a meeting. Remind the lobby that pairs exist so a Junkie does not yell for product in the Supervisor’s earshot.

4. Do not scream tasks

The HUD puts work on the left. That list is for you, not for the lot. Rules for the night:

  • Do not read your task list into open mic.
  • Do not call a friend to a crime scene by street name if the Supervisor is standing on that street.
  • Do not crime in the Supervisor’s face. This is the whole game in one sentence. Walk around a trailer. Wait until they take a porch. Then do the urge.
  • Sanity still matters. Waiting too long makes you unstable. Quiet is not idle. Call a scream-rule break once, then keep playing.

5. Map landmarks worth naming once

You do not need a cartographer. You need three names so meetings and exile make sense.

  • Community Center — where people gather when a meeting is called. Practice walking there once so the first vote is not a lost tourist parade.
  • Piss Creek Saloon — voted-out players speak here. They do not shadow the Supervisor with full park voice. Living players should not treat Saloon chatter as live intel unless the table house-rules it.
  • Your trailer and the night lots — alibis and loud crimes. Learn a porch conversation versus a lot with no witnesses.

The 27 August 2026 delay added an entirely new map, so names may shift. The jobs stay: meeting space, exile space, crime space. Recheck official news if labeled screenshots appear before 17 September.

6. One-liners everyone repeats

Before Start, the host says these once:

  1. Commit sanity urges. Do not skip your crime until you are obviously cracked.
  2. Do not crime in the Supervisor’s face.
  3. Meetings vote the Snitch, not the person you find annoying.
  4. Voted out, you speak in Piss Creek Saloon.
  5. Eleven suspect roles. Supervisor is public. Snitch is hidden under a cover.

Then you queue. After the round, spend sixty seconds on what leaked. That is the improvement loop: no spreadsheet, no promo code. Save the tier list for after the session, community for studio URLs, and the tools hub if you still need specs.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about roles, meetings, and the Steam launch.

Who should read the Supervisor guide?

Assign one willing player before the queue. The Supervisor is public, so that person should have already opened the Supervisor page.

Why does the Junkie need a Dealer?

Role urges are how suspects stay sane. A Junkie with no Dealer has to get sloppy or crack. Say the pair out loud so both players look for each other quietly.

Where do voted-out players talk?

Piss Creek Saloon. They should not keep full-park proximity commentary as if they were still in the round.

Can we skip the voice check with friends we already know?

Not on a first Dawson Oaks night. Proximity voice behaves unlike a normal Discord call. Thirty seconds of testing saves a wasted round.

Is this checklist for online or LAN?

Both. Steam lists online and LAN PvP plus co-op. The jobs do not change when you move to a local network.
