Getting Started in Dawson Oaks Trailer Park

Wishlist, build a face you can recognize at night, then treat the left-panel urge list as a crime sheet.

Getting Started

Dawson Oaks Trailer Park is still an upcoming Steam game. Striped Panda Studios plans a Windows launch for 17 September 2026 at $9.99 USD after sliding the date from 10 September to polish a new map. Your first job is not to memorize every suspect role. Your first job is to get into a lobby without looking like a tourist, read the left-panel URGES, and avoid committing a crime in the Supervisor’s face.

Wishlist the Steam store page, join the official Discord, and keep the Striped Panda site bookmarked. Confirm Windows specs the night before you host. Run the pre-match lobby checklist so voice, LAN versus online, and friend invites are settled before character create. There are no public promo codes. Closed playtests used private keys; the codes hub is the page to watch if that ever changes. Launch timing lives on the release date tracker. Extra store and Discord links sit on the links page.

Create a face you can actually find

Playtests opened on a full character creator with sliders for body shape and sex presentation, plus the usual face and clothing tweaks. Keep it tasteful and keep it readable. You will spend the match identifying people across dark lots, porches, and the Community Center doorway. A silhouette you can pick out at 20 meters is worth more than a joke outfit that blends into every other hoodie. Name yourself something the table can say out loud without a spelling debate. Tab later shows Role Details; your body is what other players use when they do not have that card.

First lobby: online, LAN, and a public cop

Matches are online and LAN, not a local-only living-room toy. Once you spawn, look for three facts in this order. First, the Supervisor nametag is public. You do not have to deduce who the park cop is. Second, you may be a hidden Snitch wearing a cover role, or you may be one of the eleven suspects. Third, the left panel is not flavor text. It is a list of URGES. Completing them restores the SANITY bar at the top of the HUD. Waiting too long makes you unstable and easier to expose.

If the UI feels familiar, that is the Dale & Dawson DNA: a left-side task list. In Dawson Oaks, finishing a task is a crime. The HUD will literally tell you YOU ARE COMMITTING A CRIME! IF THE SUPERVISOR SEES YOU, THEY CAN PUNISH YOU! Status chips such as BEING NEAR THE SUPERVISOR, High, Luck, and Piss are not decoration. They are the reason you get arrested or voted.

Do not crime in the Supervisor’s face

Your first urge will send you somewhere with a distance marker: HOME TRAILER, BATHTUB, STEREO, a dumpster, a mailbox, or the saloon. Walk there with your head up. If the Supervisor is in the doorway, do not start the interaction. The stealth crime walkthrough is the long version of that sentence. For minute one, the rule is simpler: split the urge. Pick up a plastic can in the yard, sell a zip bag around a corner, drink or smoke inside a trailer kitchen, then leave. Hotbar slots 1-3 hold items. The flip phone sits on slot 5. Playtest prompts used E to pick up, G to drop, and C to drink, throw, or smoke. Full bindings, including controller, are on the keyboard and controller layout.

Trading is legal-looking cover if you do not announce the role. Junkies buy from dealers. Moonshine cooks sell to players or the bartender. Offers move in $1 steps with Increase and Decrease. Do that in a trailer or at the bar rail, not on the street while the cop is watching.

Your first meeting

Suspects can call a meeting. The banner reads MEETING IN PROGRESS / VOTE OUT THE SNITCH! with a countdown. The hall is the Community Center Main Room; the park map and landmarks shows how the lots feed into that building. You are voting a hidden informant, not the public Supervisor. If the Snitch goes out, suspects take control. If the vote is wrong, the Snitch stays hidden and you just donated a teammate to Community Service: they are out of the game and can only speak inside Piss Creek Saloon.

Do not waste the first meeting on vibes. Ask who has been trading too cleanly, who has not touched an urge, and who already knows roles they should not know. That is the entire Snitch-hunting meeting guide in one breath. If you are the public cop instead, stop reading this as a suspect and open the Supervisor playbook. Playtests often seated two Snitches; you cannot play that role like a silent extra.

After the first ten minutes

Once you have survived a crime, a trade, and a meeting, graduate to how the full match loops. That page covers sanity drain, arrest timers, gavel counters, and why proximity voice is the real tell. Come back to this Guides Hub when you need the index rather than another lecture. Keep studio news open in a tab until 17 September, because the new map pass can still move rooms around.

The playtest video below is a first-session recording: character create, first urges, and the kind of messy porch crimes you should not repeat in front of the Supervisor.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about roles, meetings, and the Steam launch.

What should I do before my first Dawson Oaks Trailer Park lobby?

Wishlist Steam, confirm Windows specs, and use the lobby checklist. Host online or over LAN. There are no public promo codes.

How much character customization is there?

Playtests used a slider-based creator, including body and sex presentation. Pick a silhouette you can recognize across dark lots, not a joke that vanishes in a crowd.

What is the first mechanic I must understand?

The left-panel URGES restore sanity and count as crimes if the Supervisor sees them. Read how the match loops and how to avoid a bust.

Where do I go for the first meeting?

Community Center Main Room. The banner says to vote out the Snitch. Details are in the meeting guide and the map.
